Jared Swilley (born 1983) is the bassist and vocalist for the alternative garage band The Black Lips.[1] He has contributed to bands such as The Renegades, The Spooks, The Gaye Blades, and The Almighty Defenders which featured the Black Lips along with musicians and close friends King Khan and Mark Sultan. Swilley played bass at the 2010 Sled Island Festival for The Ding-Dongs, a Norton Records supergroup featuring Sultan and Bloodshot Bill. He has also played with The Black Lips for rapper and current Wu-Tang Clan member GZA for a number of concerts in 2009 at SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas.[2]
He is the son of mega-church pastor Jim Swilley (b. 1958?), who came out as gay in 2010.[3][4]
